It's that time of year again - all eyes are on the red carpet at the Hollywood Oscars. After 82 years of the event, the big screen stars continue to surprise us and to set trends.
The big winner of the night was Kathryn Bigelow, who became the first female director to win an Oscar. But who wore the winning looks on the red carpet?
The most successful woman on Oscars night wasn't an actress: it was Elie Saab, one of the designers who dressed the most stars for the big event. Young Miley Cyrus, Anna Kendrick and Rachel McAdams wore Elie's marble and nude tones, in line with catwalk trends.
Maggie Gyllenhaal was an equal trendsetter, in her Dries Van Noten piece.
Demi Moore and Elizabeth Banks looked amazing in Versace Atelier, but they were inevitably compared with their predecessor Penelope. Nominated for Volver in 2008, she bravely wore a color that was not in at the time, and won the best dressed prize. Last year she won another statue and a beautiful red Donna Karan number that was not as memorable.
Jennifer Lopez and Amanda Seyfried wore Armani Privé with the voluptuousness and luxury that characterizes the Italian brand.
Charlize Theron was dressed in Dior, Kate Winslet in YSL, Meryl Streep in Chris March and Cameron Diaz in Oscar de la Renta. Those ladies always know what to wear to these types of galas.
All of them were in pastel tones, subtle golds and satin whites. Only Sarah Jessica Parker and Diane Kruger (in Chanel) took their looks a step further by combining both classic and contemporary.
The big surprises of the night were Kristen Steward and Carey Mulligan in a black Prada number. True to the twilight style, the petrol blue Monique Lhuiller design was absolutely perfect. The heart neckline brought a romantic look to the dark shade.
We loved Zoe Aldana's mauve dress from the summer 2010 Givenchy haute couture collection. She looked amazing, and she was the only woman to wear mauve and the floral style that's coming in this summer season.
Sandra Bullock was a big hit wearing Marchesa, and Vera Farmiga wowed onlookers in a dress by the same brand.
